Agree with pretty much everything you've said Bob and that line about "they're paid a lot of money to play hard and to win" to me is the main reason that Ballard has to go. He has made a lot of really good decisions personnel wise. But he's missing the X factor pieces. Like Chappell said about Mo-Alie Cox: "he makes about 2 or 3 plays a year that you really notice". [If this isn't exactly what he said, it captures the spirit.] And Ballard just hasn't been good enough in key positions and in roster spots 45-53 year after year imo

I agree in essence with what you said about Philip Rivers but they could have won the game against the Forty Niners. The offense was certainly good enough but the defense did not show up and they were a step slow for the majority of the game.
