What's the point of bringing back Haliburton? Good question. At 0-3, there's no reason for him to try to return
The Pacers blew another late lead. The Celtics know how to finish. The Pacers, well, they're not there yet.
At this point, it would be crazy to give so much as a moment’s thought to playing Tyrese Haliburton again this post-season. True, the Pacers’ all-NBA point guard will have his balky left hamstring reevaluated before Monday’s Game 4 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, but at this point, the Pacers trailing this Eastern Conference Finals series three games to none after Saturday night’s typically soul-sucking 114-11 loss, it makes no sense to push the issue with the Pacers’ and Haliburton’s longer-term future.
Maybe if the Pacers could have held on in Game 3 and maintained that 18-point third-quarter lead and not been outscored 13-2 after leading by eight with 2:38 remaining, Haliburton’s return might be a questionable (at best) proposition. Shoot, if the Pacers had held on to the Game 1 lead and the Game 3 lead, I’d work around the clock to try and get Haliburton back on the court – which they’re doing, anyway, just to be clear.
At this point, though, it makes no sense.
If there’s any question, there’s no question.
