The Purdue demolition tour continues as the Boilers dominate Gonzaga on their way to the Elite Eight
So you want to try and take Zach Edey away? Fine. Here comes the nation's best three-point-shooting team? Want to take away the threes? Here comes Edey. Good luck with that.
DETROIT – Now, they’re just out-classing people, pummeling opponents by 79 points in three NCAA Tournament games, beating them from the outside (the first half against Gonzaga) and the inside (the second half against Gonzaga). Think you’ve got a gameplan to slow down Purdue on its way to the Elite Eight and eventually the Final Four? Somebody? Anybody?
Forget it.
The Boilers, 80-68 winners over No. 5 seed Gonzaga Friday night, have all the answers.
Purdue is one victory from the program’s first Final Four since 1980 and with each passing game, there’s a growing inevitability that Purdue and UConn, the two best teams in the nation all year, will meet in the tournament finale.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Well, you just did.

But seriously, are you watching this? If it’s not Zach Edey, it’s Braden Smith and the Boilers’ 3-point shooting, which has gone from 291st in the nation last year to first this year. If it’s not Smith and Fletcher Loyer and Lance Jones and whoever else Matt Painter throws out there raining perimeter shots, it’s Edey using his muscle and his touch to dominate the interior. When Purdue is right, and heaven knows they’ve been impeccable in this tournament, they’re downright unbeatable.
