The best transition team in the league last year showed what it's all about, racking up the most points in an opener since 1990. Bring your running shoes, folks.
It’s so great to have Pacers coverage. I bought League Pass just to watch them from afar. My Athletic subscription is doomed! What a waste of money it’s become. If it wasn’t for Marcus Thompson II I’d have already left.
Same situation here. I’m only holding onto my sub at the Athletic for Leeds United and Wrexham coverage.
This team will be fun to watch regardless of the win total. They feel much better positioned to handle some injuries this year too compared to other years.
Look, I'm not telling anybody to cancel The Athletic. I think they do great work and have some amazing writers and editors. Just saying that if you follow Indy sports, it's not your best choice.
I was a big Pacers fan in the 90’s and early 00’s. I moved away from Indiana and couldn’t follow as closely. And then the brawl. Could not stand Tinsley and Artest and the idiocy.
Couple that with kneeling and hating on the country that made them rich (because they hit the genetic lottery) and I fully checked out.
Fast forward 20 years and I now have a sports-obsessed 8 year old who likes the Warriors so I’m making him watch the Pacers with me and we bought the NBA package since we live in Ohio.
High hopes for a competitive season with good dudes we can rally behind.
I'm not saying this Pacers team will win a championship, but Vegas predicting them to only win around 38 games seems crazy.
Agreed. They're a .500 team or a couple of games better than .500.
Take the “hard” over!
That seems crazy to me too. I’d think they could be a ten win improvement from last year
Bob - I’m certainly glad you are writing.
So am I. Thanks for reading.

I'll be writing quite a bit on the Pacers this year. They're gonna be an interesting team to follow.

Please continue to keep tabs of the Pacers this season, Bob. There seems to be less and less good local journalism for our central Indiana teams.

We'll agree to disagree on the kneeling issue, but this is definitely a likable group and they have a chance to reach the playoffs.
