The Niners' unhappy wide receiver wants out of San Francisco. The Colts desperately need a bookend for Michael Pittman, Jr. Aiyuk is the perfect complement. Make a run at him. Now.

The Colts are not going to inquire about the availability of Brandon Aiyuk.

Well, OK, that might not be completely accurate.

They may, in fact, inquire about the San Francisco 49ers’ unhappy wide receiver, who’s currently at a contract impasse with the club, but they sure as heck won’t do anything about it.

Because: Colts.

Right? The Colts have taken some bigger swings in the past, dealing for DeForest Buckner as an example, but in recent years, they haven’t done much of anything when it comes to spending money and taking a big swing. They draft, they keep their draftees and they miss the playoffs. It’s the way the Colts operate in these current times.

My question is, why the hell not make a run at Aiyuk?

Brandon Aiyuk of the San Francisco 49ers warms up prior to Super Bowl LVIII against the Kansas City Chiefs at Allegiant Stadium on February 11, 2024...

The guy has gone over 1,000 yards each of the last two seasons. He’s a splendid route runner. His yards-after-catch stats are off the charts; he’s third in the league from 2023-24. Sounds like a perfect bookend to Michael Pittman, Jr., am I right?

Suddenly, fans are deeply concerned with the owner’s money, like it’s coming out of their own pocket. Did you know the Colts are 10th in most cap space available, according to Over The Cap? The money is there.
