Blog: Siakam is coming to Indy, and there's a good chance he's going to stay (fingers crossed)

This is the trade Kevin Pritchard has been hoping to make for months. The Pacers get a two-time All-Star power forward. They give up very little. A masterstroke. This is going to be fun.

For most of this NBA season, the Pacers have been a fun, exciting, entertaining team that hung out in the bottom half of the Eastern Conference playoff race. Historically great offense, miserable defense, although the defense has improved measurably since Rick Carlisle altered the starting lineup.

Today, they are a contender.

A real, true-life, honest-to-God contender.

A franchise that matters.

Today, they have added 6-foot-8 power forward and two-time All-Star Pascal Siakam from the Toronto Raptors, and they didn’t have to give away any of their prime young talent to pull it off.

This has a chance to be a masterstroke, a game changer for a franchise that doesn’t often make the bold, go-for-it kinds of moves that, yes, come with some risk.
