The thought was the Colts would sign one and put the tag on the other. That's not the way it worked out. Pierce appears to be heading toward free agency.

If it was going to come down to a choice between Daniel Jones and Alec Pierce, the Colts prioritized the right guy at the right position Tuesday by slapping the transition tag on Jones.

What this also means, unfortunately, is that unless Chris Ballard and Pierce’s representation come to an agreement by noon Monday, Pierce will hit free agency in two week…
